I hate to disappoint you but, I don't believe there is any one song that can be called the "Mother of ALL Songs". The problem is, what may have been my favourite song one day, may very well be replaced by something completely different the next. I believe that our decision to listen to a particular song or artist is dictated by the mood we happen to find ourselves in at the time. It can also depend on what kind of mood you want to be in!

For me it changes, but I have a few tracks that I always come back to with enthusiasm. In terms of Michael's solo album, I must say the title track blows me away, a close second is "Can't Let Go" which has super radio hit written all over it.

...with SAGA, there are many tracks, but "You're Not Alone" I find very comforting on a spiritual level. I don't know if the song was written on a spiritual level but I have always interpreted it that way, anywho it works.

If were talking about other artists, I have a few "ultimate" songs, 2 songs from the Police rank right up there for me, they are "Message In A Bottle" and "Synchronicity II", Def Leppard's 1987 title track "Hysteria", 3 from INXS "Need You Tonight", "New Sensation", and "Never Tear Us Apart" plus heck... many many more. Like Michael said it's a day by day thing...

For me there are many "mother"-songs I heard, when I was young.
It started with Sweet ( the Fanny Adams Album is still great ), Queen ( news of the world ), Mike Oldfield ( Tubular bells), Genesis ( the lamb lies down on broadway, for example), Yes ( 85....) , and of course the one and only:
Saga with great songs during all released albums.
Sagafan since 1979 and still alive :-)

Damn, I have to agree with our beloved admin on this:

The title track from the new album really takes away my breath.

And as others already stated, the "mother-song" changes - if not from day to day, at least on a fairly regular basis. And then again there are some songs you tend to return to - again and again.

The mother of all songs!!! As a DJ, I get this type of question all the time.
For me it's "Love Will Keep Us Together" By The Captian and Tennille.

NOT

Allthough The Tubes do a great cover of it.
There are really so many. And for so many different reasons.
But I tell people it's not stuff most people listen to for the most part. Or I mention Saga and get Oh, I remember them. what was that song??? and then try to give them a breif education. :)
